In the Mountains

Posted By on May 26, 2011

I’ve been in the mountains with my aunts and my cousin. It was beautiful! We laughed and talked and watched movies and cooked and wandered.

We had lots of rain, which cut down on the hiking. My aunt was determined to hike to a waterfall, but her daughter and I declined on behalf of our other aunt and ourselves, to slide off a mountain into a waterfall in the rain. The mountain laurel hike is for next year!

We ate yummy things. Oh, so yummy things. Another cousin met us and took us up to one of his favorite restaurants on the side of a mountain. Beautiful, and delish food!  They didn’t even ask us to leave after what my husband refers to as “the cackling” started.

Finally, at the end of our visit, the weather broke for a day, and we met another cousin and her very sweet fella for a day at a theme park! I’ve never seen ducks in a fountain before, but the ducks seemed to think this was just one more of their ponds. A turbulent one!

I’ve been trying to lose weight for the past several months, and I have lost enough that my cousin asked me on the theme park day if I was going to change out of my jammies before we left. I didn’t quite understand. But it turns out my clothes are too large! Yay! That was almost as much fun as a theme park! And even better, I did manage to plan those luscious meals around eating non-fattening things, so that I didn’t gain weight. Didn’t lose, but I didn’t gain! I’m thinking that hike might have been a friend to my weight loss efforts!

More than that, I’m thinking how much I miss my aunts and my cousins!

3 pounds? I don’t believe it. We ate pretty much the same thing! Let’s head back up there and try it all again!

    Love ya!
