On the train…

Posted By on June 2, 2011

Yesterday, we went to Birmingham. On the train. I don’t live in a country where the train is not a surprising mode of travel. I don’t love to fly so I’ve taken the train several times to different places. I like it for a short trip, or for an overnight in a sleeper. There’s nothing like watching the world go by through a darkened window while the train sings you to sleep. Yesterday was just a quick trip because my husband thought it would be fun to chug over to Birmingham, and then back in a day. And it was.

Notice the red clay passing by. Birmingham was incredibly hot, and it had some of the most incredible architecture I’ve ever seen. I walked with my head tipped back for most of the time we were there.

Then, when we left for home, I was exhausted and looking for a book to read. I’d been banned from bringing my computer, and I’d left my Kindle home. I did have my iPad, and I thought I’d take a look around for a new book. My amazing critique partner, Karen Whiddon, has a new release–as of yesterday. If you’re looking for a great story, you’re looking for this one, The CEO’s Secret Baby! Do you love that cover? Gorgeous!

Awww, thanks! Your trip sounds like fun (in a hot, exhausting kind of way!) Hope you got some sweet tea!

Hey, you! That’s exactly what it was! Hot and exhausting, but fun. I love the way trains sound! It was actually too hot to drink sweet tea, but I’m sipping some now!
