Just Another Day of Work

I’m missing my brother-in-law, who went home yesterday, and I’m feeling a little guilty about my sheer relief at being able (allowed) to get back to that pesky chapter with the lobotomized characters. I’ve provided them with some serious surgery, and they are slowly shimmying back into their old personalities. I believe in a character arc, but should it occur in the blink of an eye? With no motivation?

No.

The other thing I’m doing is taking the expected out of the equation. That means I’m rewriting a chapter with a touch of tough love. This is my story. I want to see how it ends. I want to see how my characters fight for each other. I don’t need another example of how every other writer finds her solutions!

I should see the answers first. Sometimes I only see the changes my story folk need to make mere moments before we need to sweep down a new road. This is often true for me when I drive, too.

Anyway–not a lot of time or words to blow on a blog today. I need to get back to the operating table! (Aka: Those too easy-peasy, predictable words I already wrote!)
