Here, Kitty Greets New Addition!

The new laptop arrived, and Kitty’s so excited! His joy led him to chew the box to bits, but it doesn’t equal mine. I loaded that picture in seconds, vs. the minutes I’ve been using–back when I could even load photos. I’m stunned at the speed webpages load! And I’m so excited to write and see the words come up–rather than having them trail behind me. I do love a gadget, and new technology is pure magic, but seriously, work is so much easier with a working computer!

So, I’d like to say thanks to Steve Jobs, even though I’m sad every time his picture appears on the Apple page that loads by default in my browser. You read that he could be irascible, but I also read his 2005 Stanford address, and his courage for living his way makes me want to take the same risks in my own small patch of land and life. I’m grateful for the way he changed the world, and I’m not ready to change the default that reminds me he’s gone, and I’m sad.

And that’s enough about that.

Don't you have a favorite tree?

So–back to Autumn. I took a picture of my favorite tree. It’s not ours, but it’s near where we live, and my girl and I look forward to its changing leaves every year. It’s been fuller in years past, but I’m hoping that’s due to too much heat this summer, and not some illness within the tree. I’ll try to take another photo after the leaves are even more orange! It’s a big old orange powder puff!

And now, a little RIP VI update. Turns out I watch a lot of mystery/thriller type movies in the middle of most nights! For instance, I’ve been watching the Hildegarde Withers mysteries (based on Stuart Palmer short stories), on Saturdays. I saw them first when I was very young, and a local TV station showed retro movies in the middle of Sunday nights. (Sometimes insomnia can be your friend!) It was called England Sound Theatre, and through it, I saw Arsenic and Old Lace, and The Big Sleep, and Hildegarde and many others.

I feel a little guilty admitting I loved Hildegarde more back then. For various reasons. One of the actors seems a bit too quirky, and sometimes, the clues are hidden. A mystery is always better when there’s fair play, and we have the same chance to solve it as the detective. The odd thing is, the answer was so obvious that there didn’t seem to be a point to hiding the clue (or maybe I’m riddled with English degree). So–I don’t know. I am really enjoying the fact that women are not clingy, and nor do they require saving in these movies.

That’s bound to be enough random for one day. I must have been storing up words to blog with!
