Retreating to the Beach!

Sunrise
I’m writing at the beach. I got here after dark last night, and they warn you that lights on decks disturb the nesting sea turtles, etc., so I couldn’t see the ocean, but the waves were a song of welcome! This morning when I woke, this was the sunrise. Over there–to the right.
Amazing? Yes, and yes. I thought the tide was high already.
No.
High Tide
High Tide. Pushed even higher by the small storm, I guess. Lots of wind and clouds, a few drops of rain. You guessed it.
Heaven.
Working is difficult when all that waits outside the door. I feel so calm and happy. I could stare at the water all day long, and listen all night.
Instead, since I’m here to work, I’ve been dragging myself away from the window and the deck and the doors and the sand. Better get back to my story! Retreating can be hard work!
