It’s that random time of day…

Keeping the Engine Warm

I often remember to blog in the middle of the night. After I’ve been writing all day. On days (nights) like this, while the shrewish muse weeps softly in the corner and I babble at will, I love to go random.

Hold on. It’s going to be a bumpy ride!  (Not really. I just thought a badly quoted cliche went well with the doggie driving to the right there.) He was either the getaway guy or he’s ready for his closeup in the doggie/kitty insurance commercials. I certainly feel safer thinking of doggies and kitties all hopped up on rawhide or catnip, taking the wheel!

Continuing the kitty theme, my girl and I saw Puss in Boots this afternoon. We love kitties, so we were its target audience. The leche scenes are making me laugh right now! And the scene where Puss cannot stop himself from chasing a light. Pardon me for veering into a characterization tangent, but there’s nothing as funny as an animated kitty who falls prey to his own animal instinct!

We had the theater to ourselves, which was odd because we were running late, and I feared we wouldn’t get a seat. (Kind of hoping for a sequel, here. I’m too busy working, to know if we barely caught it before the movie left theaters, but I hope it did well before today!) In the previews, we discovered Beauty and the Beast is coming back to the theater on January 13th. We. Cannot. Wait. (Except I’m missing Jerry Orbach all over again. Sad…)

Are you ready for your Thanksgiving feast? I made my shopping list before I started this post. I have one major task. We never have a matching set of glasses. Normally, it doesn’t bother me. There are bigger worries in the world. But we’re having company, and I’d love it if just once, everyone had the same glass. I’m on a mission to scout some out tomorrow, and then I’m locking them up until we set the table on Thursday. We cannot keep a glass, even when my brother-in-law (they call him “Glassy!”) isn’t here, so we’ll probably lose a couple before the turkey is truly carved. But for one brief, shining moment we will have a glass for everyone.

Now I need to peruse appetizers. We’re always a little light on the appetizer. I found this bacon, cheese, spinach in pastry dough thing. Trying to talk myself out of making a test batch!
