Summer’s Back, and I Want Soup

Probably sounds like a non sequitur if you don’t have a blinding headache. The heat has returned with its friend Al (aka Allergen), and my head is hoping to explode by around noon.  So, naturally, I want a soup with some beans and tomatoes in it. (You know that makes sense.) Mmmm–on top, a sprinkle (okay, make it a mountain) of parmesan. If my head misses the explosion deadline, I know what I’m doing for supper!

Thought I’d add something new to the new blog–a note on what I’m reading. Since I’m working on three romance proposals, I’m taking a romance-reading break (break from reading romance, just in case that last phrase was migraine-induced) in favor of mystery.

I have Krista Davis‘s latest, The Diva Takes the Cake, but I so loved The Diva Runs Out of Thyme, I’m trying to hold off on devouring the cake. Scouting about for something similar, but different, I found Louise Penny’s Still Life, which has absolutely amazing reviews.  It’s the first in her series of Three Pines mysteries, and I cannot make myself read a series out of order–can you?  Anyway. I’m finding Still Life hard going right now, but I’m not ready to give up. You know when you’re reading a book that you haven’t fallen for entirely, but you feel a spark of possible love?  Honestly, when I was younger, I could not put down an unfinished book, but that isn’t the case these days. I’m clinging to Still Life because I know it will make me love it soon.  🙂

Why, thank you, ma’am! I’m so glad you followed! (And honestly, the theme maker, listed in copyrights below, did all the hard work!) I’m loving WordPress–can change the look whenever I get a feeling I should. 🙂
