Monday, Monday–Happy V Day!

Posted By on February 14, 2011

I like Mondays. The grocery stores aren’t as crowded. The cafe at B&N has open tables–and I love the feeling of a fresh new week. Only this Monday is Valentine’s Day. Brace yourself for a possibly odd confession from a romance author.

I don’t really get Valentine’s Day. So many expectations. Who can live up to them without a cruise ship and the help of a host of thousands? I don’t need gifts.

I have never been stricken by “extra” love because of what my husband has done on V Day. I love when he does something unexpected and kind for our children. I love days like last Friday, when he took me around the house to show me all the scuff marks he’s patched. (It’s not that we pitch the furniture through the walls. We’ve just moved furniture. Sorry for the defensive moment!) I want to tackle hug him every time he cleans the bathrooms and the kitty litter. But I really love when he makes a joke that startles me into laughing out loud. When I look at him and I love him more than the first moment I knew I loved him.

Who needs Valentine’s Day to remember all that good stuff?

(Nevertheless, I have a card and a heart full o’chocolate for him. He’s not all that into the mushy stuff, but he can do some damage in a heart full of chocolate!)

Wishing you the Valentine’s Day of your dreams!
