Retreating to the Beach

Posted By on October 26, 2010

Every year, two excellent writer friends and I retreat to the beach for a week of concentrated writing. I love it. No one wants to talk to me. No one needs me to “do this one little thing.” No one (absolutely unintentionally) makes me feel bad for disappearing behind my computer.

We’ve had a couple of blips so far. The stove blew gas through the house, but fortunately did not blow up, and we have a neighbor who seriously enjoys playing her car alarm over and over and over and over, all day and all night. But we think she, and all hers, left today. See? Mere blips!

So–I’m going to disappear into the sounds that make me feel like I’m home more than any other–ocean waves–and the scent of paradise–salt on the air and in the mist–to write!
