Annual Pic of Favorite Tree

I’m meeting a friend for lunch, but I came early to work. I’m plotting a series of stories, and I just don’t care for my overall theme right now. Many times, I’ve gotten myself into trouble because I think an idea isn’t special or different enough. Instant and long-lasting writer’s paralysis ensues.

I’m thinking that right now about this series idea, but instead of submitting to paralysis, I’m just going to blah blah blah, stream of consciousness style until something comes out of my head and these ideas blend together with a great theme. (Hopeful, instead of blocked. A nice change!)

On the way over, I stopped to take a photo of my favorite fall tree. Wish I’d managed to take it before an excess of wind blew the leaves off this weekend, but they’re beautiful scattered on the ground, too. I feel ridiculous every year when I do this because–seriously, a favorite tree?

But, here it is, and it is my favorite. I’m just lucky no one came out to arrest me while I was taking photos of a stranger’s yard!

Back to work. Thinking themes. Different, twisty, unexpected, touching. Something will come.
